Established in the 2016-17 School Year, Ravenwood IEA has grown in leaps and bounds! Entering our seventh year of competition, our team has enjoyed much success! The IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) is the middle and high school affiliate program to collegiate riding. Student Athletes try out for the team and are placed in an appropriate category based on age and ability. They then represent Team Ravenwood at competitions throughout the region. Riders DO NOT bring their own horses to these events, and are judged on their ability to ride a new mount with very limited warm up time. Points are accrued both individually and as a team over the season, with the goal of qualifying for the Regional Competition. From Regionals, riders have the possibility of qualifying for the Zone and National Competitions by placing first or second in their respective classes. This program is a GREAT way to add equestrian sports to your child's resume and/or college applications. Our team offers a lettering program through the United States Equestrian Federation, many clinic and college prep activities, and the possibility of attending the College Preparatory Invitational in Wellington to meet with college reps from schools with equine programs.
Our Head Coach Lauren Wilkins has thrown her heart and soul into this program, and the results are pretty amazing! Lauren had a successful junior and amateur riding career before joining Ravenwood's teaching staff in 2013. The idea of offering an equestrian team for our older junior riders was appealing, and from those initial discussions teamRAVE's IEA was born! Team Membership has more than tripled in 3 seasons! The 2016-17 School years team started with 11 riders, and we have 40+ riders and counting for our 2022-23 Season! TeamRAVE has logged championships at the local, regional, and zone level - our first outing at the national level brought home 3rd place and Bronze Medals Nationally for High School Teams! We are SO VERY EXCITED about a very deep team of talent in 2022-23! We would love to have you as a teammate or supporter of our team for this season! Go Team Rave!!!
